AC21 Special Project Fund (SPF)

FACULTIES AND RESEARCHERS - JANUARY 31, 2020 - The Academic Consortium 21 awards SPF Awards for projects and events that include members of as many AC21 universities as possible in order to foster the collaboration between these institutions.

For many years, the University of Freiburg has been a member of the Academic Consortium for the 21st Century (AC21). This global network of research universities, with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region, is committed to bring together its members for cooperation in research and education, and thereby contribute to the global knowledge sector.

In 2008, the AC21 General Assembly established a "AC21 Special Project Fund“ to further strengthen the exchange and networking between members by specifically supporting activities that include as many members from different institutions as possible. Projects and events involving at least three AC21 universities from at least two countries can apply for seed funding in the amount of up to 10,000 USD.

Eligible projects may include

  • a forum for graduate students (Master, PhD) or an international forum
  • small workshops
  • a symposium inviting AC21 members and speakers, as well as the general public

The deadline for proposals is January 31, 2020. In order to apply for the Special Project Fund please submit your application via the University of Freiburg’s AC21 communicator, Katharina Aly, Director of the  International Office:
