Internationalization Strategy, Partnerships and Networks

Internationalization Strategy 2014-2018 of the Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg
Research-oriented – crossing-borders - sustainable - diverse: these adjectives programmatically stand above the individual sections of the internationalization strategy of the University of Freiburg. For us, internationalization as a cross-cutting issue for the entire university is an impetus for further development in terms of quality and content in all areas (research, teaching, continuing education, administration). Central elements are the (co-)shaping of the European Higher Education Area, the opening of our institution to international members, the design of learning and teaching for our students to become "global citizens" and the strengthening of our global visibility.

Partnerships and Networks
The University of Freiburg has many international partners, and is a member of various transnational networks. The focus is on five Comprehensive Partners as well as cooperation with the universities of the Upper Rhine region (Eucor - The European Campus), the League of European Research Universities (LERU), the European Partnership for an Innovative Campus Unifying Regions (Epicur, European Universities Initiative) and the Academic Consortium 21 (AC21).

Shaping Collaboration with International Partner Universities

International Cooperation Agreements: A How-To by the International Office {in German]
International cooperation at the University of Freiburg takes place at all levels: in institutes, faculties, and central scientific and non-scientific facilities. International written agreements can be concluded with at least one international university partner to formalize new or already existing collaboration. Possible contents are, for example, joint teaching and research projects, the exchange of students, doctoral candidates or scientists, or other projects.

Funding
International projects - whether in research or teaching - require human and financial resources. The International Office advises on obtaining mobility funds and may provide direct financial support for projects with international partners.
